I just popped in here and thought I would stop and say hello and post a little update. Things are definitely getting cooler....ok, colder here. I talked in a previous post about installing a new wood stove, but that didn't work out. The stove I had picked out said installation had to be 6 inches away from the wall behind it ~ which was fine. Perfect in fact. But once I got the chimney sweep here and learned of our city's codes, it would have had to have been installed far enough away from the wall to put it basically in the middle of my living room floor. In a larger house/larger room, it would not have been a problem. But when you are dealing with a 1940s cottage with tiny rooms, every square inch is important. I certainly didn't want it right in the middle of the floor. Heavens no! So we purchased a new gas heater and and a furnace and all is well. It wasn't my first choice, but sometimes we simply have to deal with what we've got. Regardless of if it was Plan A or B (actually, it was C, lol) we now have a new source of thorough heat in our aging cottage, for which I am thankful.
I did a re-stock on pet medications today...which is no small task when you have several pets. But, that is all part and parcel of being a pet owner. So my pocketbook is not happy, but my fur babies will be. Tomorrow's agenda is baths and new flea meds all the way around. :0)
One other thing I wanted to share before closing ~ have you looked at your hands lately? I remember my mother saying that you could always tell a woman's age by her hands. I have recently found myself at the stage in life where I have added some firming and wrinkle reducing creams to my everyday facial care agenda. I noticed that my hands were looking a bit haggard as well, so now every morning and evening when I am done with my face, I also apply the creams ~ whether it be my morning sun block or evening firming cream or what-have-you ~ to my hands as well. I figure that it certainly can't hurt anything!
The time will change this weekend and Winter will be upon us before we know it. So burrow deep and ready yourself for the coming months with lots of cozy treats while you hold fast to that which is the good part!
